Job summary

BC Ferries is modernizing its data landscape and building an enterprise data platform. We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design scalable data pipelines and data products that drive trusted insights across operations, customer experience, and strategic planning.

You will work with SQL, Python, PySpark on cloud platforms, implement data governance, and collaborate with data governance, analytics engineers, and business leaders to deliver secure, high-performance data solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 5–8 years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise data platforms.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and PySpark.
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms and data governance.
• Strong analytical and communication skills across technical and business teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain complex production-grade data pipelines and transformations across Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers.
• Design and maintain Data Lakehouse data models and dimensional models for analytics-ready data.
• Build trusted, reusable Gold-layer data products aligned with governance and reporting needs.
• Implement data governance, data quality controls, validation rules, and lineage tracking.
• Collaborate with Platform/Data Engineers and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure data solutions.
