The responsibilities of the Senior Data Engineer will cover :

Database Management :

Design, develop, and maintain databases and data warehouses, ensuring optimal performance and reliability through the implementation of automated solutions.

Implement data modeling and database design best practices.

Data Pipeline Development :

Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient ELT / ETL processes.

Improve data organization to support various loading frequencies.

Feed different business analytical environments (business datamarts).

Data Quality and Governance :

Implement, enforce, and ensure data governance policies and standards (access, security, etc.).

Ensure data quality, accuracy, and completeness via automated validation and cleansing processes.

Investigate and resolve data quality and ELT / ETL issues.

Collaboration :

Work with business leaders, end-users, and data scientists to understand data requirements.

Translate business needs into technical specifications and deliver BI solutions.

Perform data analysis and modeling to interpret complex datasets and provide insights.

Performance Optimization :

Monitor and optimize BI system performance, proactively addressing bottlenecks.

Seek continuous improvements to platform and methodology.

Documentation :

Document BI processes, data models, flows, data engineering processes, database structures, and technical specifications.

Define specifications and requirements collaboratively.

Keep documentation up-to-date and accessible.

Security :

Implement and maintain data security measures, including access controls and encryption.

Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations.

Technical Skills and Background :

6+ years of experience in BI development and data analysis projects.

Strong SQL expertise and database management understanding.

Bachelor's degree or higher in relevant fields or equivalent experience.

Proficiency in :

  • ETL processes and tools
  • Data warehousing methodologies
  • Programming languages like Python / R
  • SQL, window functions, recursive queries

Cloud Technologies :

  • Azure (Data Factory, Azure SQL DB, etc.)
  • AWS (Lambda, Kinesis Firehose, S3, etc.)
  • Snowflake (Tasks, Stream, Pipe)

Tools :

  • Apache Airflow or equivalent
  • DBT or equivalent
  • GIT or equivalent

Experience with :

  • Data modeling (Kimball)
  • Power BI architecture and services

Other skills :

  • Team-player, self-motivated, resourceful
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively
  • Adaptability in fast-paced environments
  • Interest in cloud technologies and modern platforms
