Senior Data Enablement Analyst

Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity in the COO, CFO Group where you will play an instrumental role in coordinating the development of various automation solutions and web-based applications by leveraging RBC’s big data assets. We are currently seeking an individual with strong business analysis/automation background who is quick to adapt to new technologies and enthusiastic about developing innovative solutions to support the digital transformation in Finance. This role will work with various stakeholders in helping to identify business problems and prioritize them to unlock business value.

The Data Enablement team is focused on developing strategic solutions to support key Report to Shareholder and Regulatory Reporting initiatives across the bank. Our team consists of highly accomplished professionals with various backgrounds in computer science, data engineering, business analytics, accounting and finance to deliver innovative solutions that support data-driven decisions.

Job Description

What will you do?

Business Analysis

1. Work closely with subject matter experts to document detailed business requirements, and ensure requirements are in line with business goals and objectives.
2. Translate business requirements and document technical specifications and data lineage.
3. Analyze large data sets and system extracts to build business rules behind automated data pipelines.
4. Use SQL to understand data sets about different systems and extract data.
5. Identify, analyze implications and communicate program issues, risks and dependencies, so that they can be appropriately mitigated.

Automation

1. Design, develop and test report automation and reconciliation processes using Python.
2. Develop and execute tests, log and track issues and drive them to resolution with verification of bug fixes, document test results and research findings.
3. Develop scripts as needed to assist in the systems validation process.
4. Integrate with existing data storage solutions.
5. Coordinate with front-end developers and data engineers.

What do you need to succeed? Must have

1. Strong proficiency in MS Excel for data analysis and financial reconciliation.
2. 2+ years working experience with Python and SQL.
3. Experience with data extraction, transformation, and loading from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and related technologies.
4. Experience writing clean and concise code using Python and experience with libraries such as Pandas, BeautifulSoup and NumPy.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
6. Excellent analytical skills & critical thinking skills to investigate system and business issues, determine root cause, and deliver sustainable solutions.

Nice to have

1. Experience with Capital Markets, Personal & Commercial Banking, Wealth Management products and businesses.
2. Experience in Finance/Risk’s big data projects.
