Overview
Position We are looking for a Senior Data / Technical Architect for a 12-month contract position, with possible extensions in Saanich, British Columbia. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Work Arrangement
Position is available as hybrid, on-site and remote work. 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday. 15-20 hour work week.
Role Description
We are seeking a Senior Data / Technical Architect for various IT projects. The services of the Technical Architect are for the Asset Management Program – Data Architecture analysis, mapping around the current in-place systems and mapping towards future asset management needs.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement data models that represent the structure and relationships of data. This includes conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- Provide expertise in relational and non-relational databases – MS SQL, Oracle, MS Access
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and experience with Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) and Extract, Load, Transform (ELT) processes. This includes proficiency with ETL tools and technologies.
- The role will be leading some discussions with other departments and divisions working with a Project Manager.
- Analyze complex data challenges, identify links between problems, and design innovative solutions.
- Work effectively with cross-functional teams, including business analysts and systems analysts to align data strategies with business objectives.
Required Skills and Experience
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline. Coursework in database management, data architecture, systems analysis, and computer programming are highly beneficial.
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) is highly desirable
- Minimum of 10 years hands on experience in areas like database administration, data engineering, and programming
- Experience with major cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure for building and managing data architectures.
- Familiarity with programming languages commonly used in data management, such as SQL, Python, Java, and Perl.
- A strong understanding of data security, privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA), and the ability to implement and maintain data governance policies.
- The ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including management and senior leadership.
- Must have a keen understanding of business processes, goals, and strategies to ensure data solutions effectively support the organization's needs.
