Job summary

Carlos Goncalves is seeking an Senior Data Analyst / Data Engineer for a 6-month contract in downtown Toronto. The role requires 7+ years in data engineering, with deep expertise in ADF, Databricks, Python, and Azure services. Hybrid work, with in-office days weekly.

The candidate will lead a small team and drive data governance, delta tables, and DevOps pipelines in a regulated financial services context.

Qualifications

7+ years as Data Analyst / Data Engineer
ADF + Databricks proficient

Responsibilities

7+ years experience with ADF, Databricks and Azure Functions (C#).
In-depth development experience Python notebooks on Databricks/Spark/pandas.
Experience with Unity Catalog and data governance setup/configuration.
Loading datasets from various sources using ADF to Databricks with Medallion architecture.
Converting Databricks workspace from Hive metastore to Unity Catalog and managing permissions.
Create delta table schemas with proper design and security permissions.
DevOps & deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps/GitHub Enterprise for ADF and Databricks.
Experience with Azure Entra ID for SSO/RBAC setup.
Deploying to Azure PaaS resources (Azure SQL PaaS, ADF/SHIR, ADLS, Databricks, Synapse).
Ability to lead a small team and work independently.
