Our team is a collection of ambitious, collaborative, and mission-driven people from all walks of life but with one goal: helping Canadian companies not just survive but thrive. We're looking for bold innovators to help shape the future of business finance in Canada.

About the Senior Data Analyst role:

We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join our team and help build and develop the foundations for the data analytics practice at Float. You will play a critical role in establishing and scaling our data processes and business intelligence systems. This position requires a deep understanding of data analysis, a strong technical background, and experience working with modern data tools. In addition to contributing directly to our data vision and roadmap, you will have the opportunity to help shape the future team that will keep driving this vision forward.

As a Senior Data Analyst at Float, you will:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify impactful milestones in a customer's journey and analyze their impact on customer outcomes.
  • Design, build, and maintain robust dashboards and reports in Metabase for internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and optimize queries to support data analysis and reporting.
  • Uncover insights and areas of opportunity within our business for Float and our customers.
  • Lead the implementation of scalable reporting and KPI monitoring to support decision-making and strategy development.
  • Work closely with data scientists, data engineers, business teams, and product teams to ensure data quality, integrity, and alignment with business needs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data processes, drive automation, and optimize performance.

A few must-have experiences:

  • 5 years of experience in data analysis, ideally in a product-focused environment.
  • Proficient in SQL for querying large datasets, developing complex queries, and optimizing database performance.
  • Experience with A/B testing, hypothesis testing, and statistical analysis to evaluate product and feature impact.
  • Expertise in building and maintaining dashboards and reports, particularly in Metabase or other BI tools (Tableau, Looker, Power BI, Google Sheets).
  • Familiarity with advanced analytics tools like Python, R, or similar for data manipulation and statistical analysis.
  • Strong analytical thinking capable of digging deep into business problems to uncover hidden insights and opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of business strategy and terminology.
  • Experience in storytelling with data to senior management.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

You'll be great in this role if:

  • You are an owner, love challenges, and take satisfaction in tackling them head-on.
  • You can explain complex problems simply and effectively communicate findings to stakeholders of varying technical backgrounds.
  • You possess solid technical skills in development, data technologies, analytics, and engineering.
  • You understand the business context and how your role supports the company's vision and strategy.
  • You are adaptable to a fast-paced environment and open to change.
  • You have a strategic mindset, balancing immediate needs with future planning.
  • You can prioritize effectively and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • You are eager to learn continuously and engage in healthy debates about the product and data insights.

This role won't be a fit if:

  • You lack attention to detail or are not open to a hybrid (Toronto-based) role.
  • You are not a self-starter or dislike working independently.
  • You are uncomfortable with ambiguity or change.
  • You struggle to translate technical jargon into simple language.
  • You lack patience for iterative work or prefer detailed task lists.
  • You do not enjoy learning new things or managing stakeholder relationships.
  • You do not appreciate regular feedback on your work.

Don't meet every requirement? If you're excited about this role and align with our values, we encourage you to apply. You might be the right candidate for this or future positions.

Benefits & Perks:

  • Flexible time off
  • Catered lunches on Tuesdays & Wednesdays
  • A personal Float card with quarterly stipends and a Home Office stipend
  • Autonomy to make an impact
  • Opportunity to work with a world-class team
  • Contribute to building Canada's best modern financial institution

We are committed to an inclusive workplace. If you need accommodations during the hiring process or once you join, please contact Vic. We will work with you to ensure you have what you need to succeed.
