Job summary

Leo Berwick AI is seeking a Senior Data & AI Leader to architect, build, and scale end-to-end data and AI solutions in PE-backed environments. You will own the design from initial client whiteboard through deployment, leading data engineers, analysts, and visualization specialists while expanding team capabilities.

You will influence firm-wide initiatives, collaborate with C-suite clients, and shape the practice’s data strategy with a hands-on, growth-oriented approach.

About the Role

We build data and AI solutions that drive real business outcomes for private equity portfolio companies. We're looking for a Data & AI Leader who can design the architecture, run the implementation, and grow a high-performing team around them.

We're hiring a Senior Data & AI Leader to architect, build, and scale end-to-end solutions in PE-backed environments - this is a full-stack leadership role. You'll own the design of end-to-end data and AI solutions from the first whiteboard session with a client through deployment and adoption. You'll lead a team of data engineers, business analysts, and data visualization specialists, and have influence over who joins that team. This role offers the flexibility to lean into other areas of the firm as we grow, including business development, commercial strategy, and internal AI enablement initiatives.

What You'll Do

• Design and deliver scalable and pragmatic end-to-end data and AI solutions
• Lead delivery across the full project lifecycle, including discovery, design, development, testing & validation, deployment, hypercharge, and monitoring & observability
• Build data models that are clean, well-documented, and represent the business
• Manage and mentor a cross-functional team of data engineers, analysts, and visualization specialists
• Build and mentor teams of data engineers, analysts, and specialists Translate complex technical concepts for non-technical clients and stakeholders
• Strong perspective on where AI creates real value, with ability to scale repeatable solutions
• Contribute hands‑on as needed (pipelines, transformations, platform work)
• Present architectural recommendations and roadmaps to client leadership, including CIOs, CTOs, and PE deal teams, and participate in steering committees throughout the engagement
• Contribute to firm-wide commercial and strategic initiatives

What We're Looking For

• Proven track record designing and delivering data/AI solutions with clear business impact (8+ years' experience preferred)
• Strong architecture and data modeling expertise with an ability to drive its adoption with clients
• Hands-on experience with modern data & AI stacks (including applied AI use cases like RAG and agent workflows)
• Experience leading and developing technical teams, enabling individuals across diverse skill sets to perform at their best
• Hands-on builder with experience writing production code and building data pipelines
• Genuine curiosity about AI, with strong judgment on where it applies
