Job summary

The City of Toronto is seeking a permanent Full Time Analyst to support the Manager Strategic Transformation and the Chief Information Security Officer in sustaining a city-wide cyber security program. This role focuses on developing source data, maintaining operational cyber reporting, dashboards, scorecards, and presenting trends to leadership.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Computer Science or Technology or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience with applying machine learning and other data science techniques to identify anomalous behavior patterns.
  • Advanced knowledge of database, automation, VBA scripting and BI tools including Tableau.
  • Experience in applying data science to risk management, finance, and cyber related domains.
  • Experience with extracting, cleaning, and transforming data, and working with data owners to understand the data.
  • Design, create and maintain reports and dashboard visualizations to support business decisions.
  • Experience using SQL and data science tools (Python, R, Scikit-learn).
  • Broad understanding of information technologies; preferred CISSP, CRISC certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Support processes to track key metrics, KPIs, and KRIs.
  • Collect and analyze data for reports, ensuring accuracy in data and calculations.
  • Prepare reports for management.

Division:Office of the Chief Information Security Officer
Reports To:Manager Strategic Transformation
Salary Range: $112,280 to $149,247
Work Location: 55 John Street, Toronto
Job Type: Permanent Full Time
Shift Information:Monday to Friday, 35 hours work week

JOB SUMMARY:

To support the Manager of Strategic Transformation and the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) in maintaining a City-wide cyber security program that enhances protection across the organization.

To collaborate with the Division to develop, identify source data, and maintain operational cyber reporting, dashboards, presentation decks, scorecards and support project teams with cyber metrics.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the development, deployment, and management of cyber performance measurements through operational, strategic, and finance-related metrics.
  • Support the development of processes to track key metrics, key performance indicators, and key risk indicators.
  • Collect and analyze data for reports, ensuring accuracy in data and calculations.
  • Prepare reports for management.
  • Assist in delivering and verifying analytics and reporting, including executive reporting on data and trends used to inform strategic and tactical improvement plans.
  • Support correlation between raw information technology and cyber data.
  • Assist in automating data through MS Excel, MS SharePoint, MS Access, and other database solutions.
  • Develop dashboards for various stakeholders (executive to working team level) to provide actionable insights for leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary degree in Computer Science or Technology or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience with applying machine learning and other data science techniques to identify anomalous behavior patterns (e.g., user or machine anomalies).
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with database, automation, VBA scripting and BI tools including Tableau.
  • Experience in applying data science to risk management, finance, and cyber related domains.
  • Experience with extracting, cleaning, and transforming data, and working with data owners to understand the data.
  • Design, create and maintain reports and dashboard visualizations, gather insights to support business decision making.
  • Experience using database languages, such as SQL, and common data scientist software development and statistical analysis tools (e.g., Python, R, Scikit-learn)
  • Broad understanding of information technologies with demonstrated areas of expertise.
  • Preferred Certifications (any in the list): CISSP, CRISC.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS/INFORMATION:

A normal work week is 35 hours, however, unforeseen situations may require extended hours of work with little or no prior notice. In case of a cyber incident or breach, rotation shift, continuous extended hours may be required with little or no prior notice.

Subject to a police check, background check and psychological assessment and/or any other checks on a regular basis as the Office of the CISO handles highly sensitive and confidential information.
