Job summary
Placements24 seeks a Crop Protection Specialist to advise farmers in the Northern Cape on IPM-based protection strategies. The role involves field assessments, program development for chemical, biological, and cultural controls, and ongoing optimization of pest management plans.
You will stay abreast of latest research, regulatory changes, and product developments, while communicating technical guidance to farmers and agricultural advisors across the region.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Entomology, Plant Pathology, Agronomy, Agricultural Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in crop protection, pest management, or advisory roles.
- Strong IPM knowledge and practical experience with pesticides, biocontrols, and cultural controls.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular field inspections to identify pests, diseases, and weed problems.
- Develop and implement crop protection plans including chemical, biological, and cultural controls.
- Advise farmers on pesticide, herbicide, and fungicide selection and timing.
- Promote and support Integrated Pest Management (IPM) adoption.
- Monitor efficacy of protection programs and adjust strategies as needed.
- Stay updated with research, regulations, and product developments in crop protection.
- Provide training and technical support to farmers and advisors.
