Job Overview

The Senior Counsel, Privacy, Data & Cybersecurity role at TD involves providing legal advice on privacy, data use, and cybersecurity matters. You will collaborate with legal teams, business units, and external vendors to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, manage risks, and support TD's data-driven initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and interpret privacy and cybersecurity laws and regulations, translating legal requirements into business guidance.
  • Advise on privacy and data-related legal issues for new initiatives and partnerships.
  • Draft and review policies, terms, and conditions related to data protection and cybersecurity.
  • Support investigations and incident responses to ensure legal compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Stay updated on evolving legal and regulatory developments in privacy and cybersecurity.
  • Manage external legal counsel and vendors as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Law degree from an accredited institution and qualified to practice law in Canada.
  • At least 8 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in privacy, technology, cybersecurity, or related fields.
  • Deep knowledge of Canadian privacy laws and cybersecurity risk management.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under deadlines and navigate complex legal issues.
