The Cost Estimator is responsible for preparing cost estimates for all Gate and Funding milestones for portfolio projects under $500M. They will participate in efforts to improve the efficiency and quality of Estimating Group processes and review practices.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop cost estimates for projects.
- Collaborate with project and functional teams, including planners, schedulers, and integrated project teams.
- Contribute to the creation of C&SE deliverables, such as Cost and Schedule Estimates, estimate basis documents, benchmarking analysis, and more.
- Previous experience in oil and gas cost estimating is required.
- Strong mentoring and technical expertise in cost estimating, including proficiency with industry programs (e.g., ASPEN).
- Identify capital efficiency opportunities and risks in projects.
- Some travel within Alberta may be needed.
- Promote and drive capital efficiency across projects managed by the department.
Required Skills and Qualifications :
- Advanced expertise in cost estimating.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or equivalent professional experience.
- 15+ years of experience in project work.
- Previous experience in upstream, downstream, manufacturing, refining, or midstream cost estimating.
- Strong negotiation and coordination skills, particularly with internal teams.
- Ability to collaborate with diverse team members across various sites and time zones.
- May assist with projects across Canada, with a focus on refinery projects in Ontario.
- Strong influencing, consulting, mentoring, analytical, and computing skills.
- Adaptability to shifting priorities and demands.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills for managing cross-functional activities.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and quickly respond to urgent requests for analysis.
