What Is The Opportunity?

Scarborough Transit Connect (STC) is awarded the design and works of the Scarborough Subway Extension project. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools, and other key destinations throughout the city.

Scarborough Transit Connect (STC) is looking to bring on a Senior Cost Controller which would be hired directly through STC.

What You Will Do Here:

• Prepare and maintain Cost Controls plans, and detailed manpower utilization plans for discipline or specialty activities.
• Assist with contract administration and payments.
• Assist in the development of the quantities remaining for the forecast to go.
• Plan, coordinate, and direct the preparation of specific budgets.
• Assist in developing requirements for budgeting standards.
• Develop and implement requirements for forecasting, cost recording, reporting, and analyzing standards, and reports.
• Perform performance monitoring through the earned value management system.
• Assist in developing specific project codes of accounts and recommends appropriate modifications and revisions.
• Investigate requirements for cost control data for a specific discipline or other specialty applications.
• Identify or define data sources and techniques for data acquisition and collects required data for a specific discipline or other specialty applications.
• Support in setting up the project accounting systems (cost codes, job cost processing procedures, project rules of credit & earnings).
• Ensure all the contract conditions (invoicing, reporting, change management, etc.) are applied and fulfilled for project set-up, project tracking and reporting, and project closeout.
• Generate all required project status reports for internal management and for the customer, including the overall project Dashboard, project performance report (Earned Value, SPI, CPI, etc.), cost variances, etc.

What You Will Bring To The Team:

• 7-10 years minimum of Cost Control experience in construction.
• Knowledge of financial reporting systems and controller account codes and an understanding of Controller instructions, which impact Project Controls (including Project Financial Status Reports and Earned Revenue Determination Data).
• Accreditation from AACEI or CIQS is an asset.
• College and/or University degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Applied knowledge of Project Management and Cost Controls principles is an asset.
• Applied knowledge of the "Earned Value" principles is an asset.
• Ability to produce, read and manipulate schedules and scheduling curves/reports an asset.
• Experience with Hard Dollar/InEight and SAP ERP systems is an asset.
• Intermediate to expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks within a high-pressure worksite environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
• Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees.
• Willingness for continuous learning and advancement of technical knowledge.
• Detail-oriented.
