Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Consultant with 8+ years in cost management to lead cost estimation and planning on major infrastructure projects in Canada. The role involves presenting cost plans to clients and guiding teams through value engineering and commercial discussions.

The ideal candidate demonstrates self‑motivation, strong leadership, and the ability to work independently or within a collaborative team while upholding Turner & Townsend values and quality

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in cost management.
  • University degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying / Civil Engineering / Construction Management.
  • Membership in CIQS / RICS / AACE is a bonus.
  • Knowledge of cost estimating software used on major civil engineering projects is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • PrepareRobust construction cost estimates from feasibility/concept through detailed design, including pre‑tender estimates and final cost plans; own and present the cost plan to clients and stakeholders.
  • Cost planning and options analysis; develop reconciliations with clear assumptions and justifications.
  • Engage in value engineering workshops to identify cost savings and optimum solutions.
  • Produce cost benchmarks for validation and target-setting on major infrastructure projects.
  • Engage in commercial discussions and (as applicable) claims/negotiations with contractors and subcontractors; support contract administration.
  • Interact with project clients, stakeholders, contractors and consultants during all project stages to ensure goals are achieved.

Job Description

As a Senior Consultant, you will be involved in:

Preparing robust construction cost estimates from feasibility/concept through detailed design, including pre‑tender estimates and final cost plans; own and present the cost plan to clients and stakeholders.

Cost planning and options analysis/optioneering; develop reconciliations with clear assumptions and justifications for decision‑making.

Engaging in value engineering workshops to identify the cost savings and optimum solutions available for the client.

Producing cost benchmark for validation and target-setting on major infrastructure projects.

Engage in commercial discussions and (as applicable) claims/negotiations with contractors and subcontractors; support contract administration consistent with Turner & Townsend practices.

Actively interfacing with project clients, key stakeholders, contractors, and consultants (engineering, etc.) during all project stages.

Working in close collaboration with high performing project teams to ensure expectations are managed adequately and clients’ goals are achieved.

Qualifications

7+ years of experience in cost management

Recognized university degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying / Civil Engineering / Construction Management Degree and/or Certification

Membership in relevant professional organizations is a bonus (e.g., CIQS / RICS / AACE)

Knowledge and proficiency with cost estimating software used on major civil engineering projects is an asset

The base salary range for this full-time role is $95,000 - $145,000per year. Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range is a reflection of base salary only, not of a total compensation package. Please note Turner &Townsend reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on candidate’s experience and qualifications.
