Cavendish Farms is a leading producer of frozen potato products for retail and foodservice markets throughout Canada, the United States and around the world. We have state-of-the-art processing plants in New Annan PE, Lethbridge, AB, Wheatley, ON and another in Jamestown, ND, with head offices in Dieppe, NB and sales locations in Toronto, Montreal and Boston.

Position Location: Wheatley, Ontario

The Senior Cost Accountant plays a key role in supporting operational efficiency and financial planning by analyzing production costs, preparing reports, and assisting in strategic decision-making. This role collaborates closely with plant operations, finance, procurement and supply chain to ensure accurate costing and inventory control.

Successful Candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Analyze and monitor manufacturing costs and variances.
• Prepare cost reports and financial statements to provide insights for management decision making
• Prepare, analyze and present budgets and forecasts.
• Develop standard costing
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes related to cost accounting
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements
• Drive continuous improvement in cost tracking and reporting systems

Qualifications:

• Post secondary education in accounting, finance or similar field of study
• 5 years’ of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
• A professional accounting designation
• Proficient with ERP systems (JD Edwards/Oracle a plus)
• Advanced in Excel with the ability to develop reports and analyze data to provide strong recommendations to senior leadership.
• Supervisory experience with a demonstrated ability to lead, coach and mentor
• Proven ability to work cross functionally
