You are a strategic thinker and collaborative advisor with a passion for strategic planning in a complex, fast-paced environment. You thrive on translating big-picture goals into actionable plans and meaningful performance insights which resonate with staff across the organization. With a deep understanding of government planning, you provide expert guidance that helps senior leaders make informed decisions. What you’ll do :

Reporting to the Strategic Planning Team Leader, the Senior Corporate Planning Advisor will be responsible for supporting the Team Leader in developing, implementing, and integrating a corporate process for all strategic planning including :

  • provision of support and advice to all levels of management in the preparation of the CNSC’s strategic and integrated plans as well as the development of reports required by Central Agencies and Parliament such as the Departmental Plan;
  • working with Directorates to gather information for responses to other central agency requests;
  • identifying, monitoring and analyzing strategic trends, including, for example, economic and social trends.

Essential Qualifications :

Education :

Degree from a recognized university with specialization in business administration, public administration, social sciences or public affairs, or a relevant combination of education, experience and job knowledge.

Language Requirements :

Experience :

  • Experience preparing corporate reports for Central Agencies and Parliament
  • Significant
  • experience leading and supporting the development of corporate strategic, operational, and / or integrated business planning frameworks and plans
  • Significant
  • experience writing precise, clear and timely reports, recommendations, presentations and communications materials for senior management
  • Significant
  • experience collaborating with internal interested parties and providing strategic advice on planning
  • Significant
  • experience managing or coordinating cross-functional projects or working groups with a planning focus
  • Significant is defined as depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of those duties on a regular basis for a period of approximately three (3) years. However, a shorter duration may be considered based on demonstrated complexity and diversity of work handled, scope of work, or level of direct responsibility for a wide variety of complex files or projects.
  • Senior management is defined as Director General (EX-02 / 03) and above

Knowledge of :

  • Principles and practices of strategic, integrated, and / or operational planning.
  • Government of Canada planning requirements, particularly those of the Treasury Board Secretariat and Privy Council Office.
  • CNSC’s mandate and vision, and its alignment with broader governmental objectives.
  • Communication standards and techniques used to convey strategic direction and planning processes.
  • Parliamentary reporting procedures and requirements related to corporate planning.

Ability to :

  • Analyse, synthesize, and integrate diverse sources of information into clear, actionable strategic advice and reports.
  • Influence and advise senior management on planning matters.
  • Lead collaborative working groups and manage complex projects from inception to completion.
  • Adapt to shifting priorities, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple concurrent deliverables.
  • Facilitate strategic discussions and workshops involving senior interested parties.

  • Training or certification in project management and / or change management.
  • Experience working in or with regulatory organizations or agencies.

Operational Needs :

All CNSC staff are subject to the Mobility Directive.

Hours of Work : 37.5 hours per week

Overtime : Overtime may be required
