Export Development Canada (EDC) is seeking a Lead Counsel to join its Legal Services team in a hybrid work environment. The role focuses on transactional and non-transactional work, including structuring and documenting financing arrangements and providing strategic legal guidance to engineering and investment activities.

The candidate will lead negotiations, coordinate with outside counsel, and ensure compliance with the Export Development Act and related statutes.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Law and bar admission in Canada.
• Minimum 7 years (Legal Services 19) or 10 years (Legal Services 20) of relevant experience.
• Strong communication, drafting and multitasking skills.
• Knowledge of corporate and lending law within a government framework.
• Bilingual English & French is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Lead transactional and non-transactional legal work for corporate lending and investments.
• Draft and review legal documents, waivers and amendments.
• Provide legal advice on contracts, compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with outside counsel and internal teams to mitigate risk.
• Support business teams with timely, practical legal solutions.
