Reporting to the Superintendent, Operational Health & Safety, the Senior Coordinator – Health, Safety and Risk, plays a key enabling role in supporting operational leaders to own and drive safety performance. This position provides expert guidance, coaching, and assurance to ensure that health and safety responsibilities are fully integrated into operational decision-making and frontline execution.
The role is field-focused (70%) and works collaboratively with operations to embed a proactive, risk-based safety culture focused on governance and development of tools to support successful and safe operations.

Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of risk assessment processes.
- Mentor supervisors and frontline teams in hazard identification and control strategies.
- Conduct field audits to ensure alignment between risk assessments and actual work practices.
- Oversee high-potential and serious incident investigations, ensuring root cause analysis and robust corrective actions.
- Facilitate ICAM investigations and coach leaders on effective incident management.
- Monitor and report on incident trends, investigation quality, and CAP completion.
- Champion the Critical Control Field Verification (CCFV) program, analyzing trends and coaching leaders on control effectiveness.
- Provide strategic insights to improve control implementation and reduce high-risk exposures.
- Drive the Visible Felt Leadership (VFL) program by mentoring supervisors and auditing leadership engagement quality.
- Analyze VFL data to identify cultural and behavioral trends and recommend targeted interventions.
- Lead the development, review, and auditing of safety procedures to ensure alignment with operational realities and regulatory requirements.
- Support change management and communication strategies for new or revised procedures
- Conduct comprehensive site inspections and safety observations, identifying with leadership timely resolution of non-conformance expectations.
- Provide coaching and feedback to improve compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
- Evaluate and approve contractor EHSC Work Plans and support contract managers to maintain compliance through field audits and performance review expectations.
- Act as support for contract managers to uphold safety expectations by identifying requirements to be managed within the operations.
- Develop and present monthly safety scorecards, highlighting key performance indicators, trends, and improvement opportunities.
- Use data analytics to support strategic decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support Occupational Health & Hygiene and Emergency Management and Response programs
- Deliver coaching and mentoring to supervision on safety program roll out and adoption within area.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional safety certifications such as Canadian Registered Professional (CRSP) or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Candidates holding a trade certificate accompanied by a pronounced track record in safety protocols will be given consideration.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety roles within the heavy industry sector, field-based safety coordination involving support of line-led leadership safety.
- Strong knowledge of:
- risk management and critical controls processes.
- Safety legislation and best practices
- Incident investigation and corrective action development
- proven practical experience in field safety inspections and audits
- Behavioural based safety and line led leadership development
- Demonstrated experience in risk assessment, job safety analysis, and safety training.
- Familiarity with the Mines Act, WorkSafe and other relevant regulatory bodies.

Salary Range: $105,000.0 - $130,000
