Job summary

GE Vernova Power Conversion & Storage in Peterborough, Ontario, is seeking an electrical engineer to join a small team of excitation controls and systems engineers. You will work on the application, specification, and design of power and control hardware and software for large synchronous machines up to 70 MW, with occasional travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities include specifying excitation controls from customer specs, upgrading existing control systems, PLC-based control design, and supporting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in electrical engineering, or equivalent qualifications and experience.
• 5 years or more of experience in analog and digital power/control systems for industrial drive equipment.
• 3 years or more of experience in project management, field/installation engineering, fault-finding, and startup.
• Professional Engineer registration in Ontario or qualification for registration.

Responsibilities

• Specify and apply excitation controls for synchronous motors and generators from customer specs.
• Upgrade and develop control/power equipment to current standards for large machines.
• Design and/or apply PLC-based control systems for large synchronous machines up to 70 MW.
• Collaborate with global technical and project teams.
• Support CAD, manufacturing, test, commissioning and service personnel.
• Lead continuous improvement to product designs and processes.
