Job description

Our client a state-of the-art production facility and retail operation based in St. Johns Newfoundland is seeking a Senior Controller to join their team and play a crucial role in developing and implementing financial and business strategies for its quickly expanding operations.

This is a permanent opportunity ideal for an experienced professional who thrives in a start-up environment with a fast-paced driven and passionate team and who has experience reporting to and advising a Board of Directors while overseeing all fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities for the Job :

  • Manage the accounting operations including the review of journal entries payroll accounts payable accounts receivable
  • Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal regulatory and company policies and procedures
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process and track monthly performance
  • Maintain accurate inventory and costing records
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements
  • Ensure compliance with to Provincial & Federal Government reporting requirements & tax filings including Excise Tax
  • Coordinate the annual provision of information to the Companys auditors
  • With input from the CFO responsible for the formulation of accounting policies procedures and controls

Experience & Attributes for Success :

  • Completion of a Bachelors Degree in Commerce with a Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) Designation or equivalent
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive relevant experience preferably in industry
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of financial management including budget preparation
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven leadership skills; driven to support other team members growth and development
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to make the necessary decisions to move forward the work at hand
  • Able to take accountability for work assignments and demonstrate a high level of dependability
  • A results orientated performer with a strong desire to learn and grow.
