Your impact

We’re seeking a Senior Contaminated Sites Geoscientist / Environmental Engineer to strengthen and expand Jacob’s environmental services with a focus on technical excellence, project execution and delivery. The role includes application of technical expertise in the provision of contaminated sites assessment, risk assessment, and physical and contaminant hydrogeology at operating and non-operating facilities across Canada.

This key role will be supporting the growth and building the technical capability of the Canadian environmental team. You’ll be a technical and project lead, delivering technically excellent environmental services. You’ll be key to help drive client and business development, identifying strategic opportunities and supporting the winning of those opportunities. Through regular industry participation, we’ll rely on you to develop and maintain strong key client relationships, identify emerging opportunities with clients and act as a trusted advisor to internal and external clients.

Here's what you'll need

  • Licensed Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.), or Engineer (P.Eng.) with t heAssociation of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta . Licenses in additional provinces are considered an advantage given this is a Canada wide role.
  • Greater than 20 years’ documented work experience with a focus on: site assessment, characterization and remediation; physical and chemical hydrogeology, surface water and groundwater interaction.
  • Proven track record of client and business development experience in municipal groundwater supply and groundwater resources market.
  • Experience in successfully delivering environmental projects with health and safety prioritized above all else.
  • Willing and able to travel for short to medium term assignments (within Canada and potentially internationally) with occasional overnight travel and flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required.
  • Requirement to travel and participate in remote client/project site visits work, and the ability to adapt to unpredictable and/or inclement field conditions and changing schedules.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid Class G driver’s license.
  • Ability to display leadership, initiative and engage decision making skills.
  • Proven experience in developing, nurturing, and growing a team.
  • Enthusiasm for environmental geoscience, demonstrating a desire and commitment to Continued Professional Development.
  • Knowledgeable of Federal and Provincial/Territorial Environmental Acts and Regulations in Canada.
