Job description

Your Opportunity:

The Manager of the Adult and Pediatric Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) Program and Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Program is responsible for providing clinical leadership to an inter-professional team, ensuring effective management of all aspects of program delivery for patients experiencing end-stage heart failure. The Senior Consultant - MCS Program is the primary resource for the VAD and ECMO programs within Cardiac Sciences, serving a broad catchment area including Edmonton, Northern Alberta, Central, and Southern Alberta. Additionally, the manager services complex patients across Western Canada.

Description:

The Manager is responsible for identifying strategic priorities aligned with national standards through environmental scans, ongoing planning, implementation, and evaluation of the program model. The role involves leadership and oversight of quality improvement initiatives, participation in research, and supporting outreach and education activities. The manager is accountable for safe, quality patient care and the management of human, fiscal, and other resources assigned to the VAD and ECMO programs.

Required Qualifications:

- Graduate of a recognized School of Nursing or Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. - 1-2 years of VAD experience with demonstrated competence and in-depth knowledge of VAD devices and equipment. - 1-2 years of ECLS specialist experience. - 3-5 years recent Nursing experience in a Cardiovascular ICU. - All level 2 certifications. - Previous management or leadership experience (charge nurse, nurse educator, project manager, etc.). - Effective leadership, team building, teaching, and communication skills. - Highly motivated, self-directed, with demonstrated accountability and integrity.

Additional Required Qualifications:

- BCLS. - Critical Care Certificate. - Active CRNA Registration.
