Job summary

Job Description

The Senior Consultant, Engagement & Facilitation leads the design and delivery of in-person, virtual, and hybrid engagement and facilitation programs that support impact assessment, regulatory processes, and relationship-building with Rights-holders and stakeholders. Working with clients, project teams, and communities, this role ensures engagement activities are well planned, thoughtfully delivered, and aligned with regulatory requirements and community expectations.

As a senior consultant, this role combines technical expertise, project leadership, and client relationship management. It is suited to individuals with experience leading complex assignments, mentoring team members, and contributing to business development, while applying a multi-lens approach that brings together Indigenous and Western ways of knowing.

Experience engaging with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples in an impact assessment context and working on regulated resource projects in a variety of sectors is required.

Senior Consultant Responsibilities (All Service Areas)

These responsibilities define the core expectations for all Senior Consultants at TWC, establishing accountabilities across project leadership, client engagement, team support, and technical delivery.

• Lead delivery of complex project components that meet quality, timeline, and regulatory expectations.
• Provide technical leadership to support consistent, high-quality application of TWC methodologies and multi-lens approaches.
• Strengthen client relationships through responsive service, trusted advice, and delivery excellence.
• Mentor consultants and analysts to build technical capability and support professional growth.
• Identify opportunities within projects and contribute to proposals to support client retention and service growth.
• Integrate diverse perspectives across disciplines to produce cohesive, well-informed project outcomes.
• Maintain alignment with regulatory, client, quality, and health and safety requirements, addressing risks proactively.

Role-Specific Responsibilities (Engagement & Facilitation)

These responsibilities describe how the Senior Consultant applies their core role within engagement, focusing on leading engagement programs that are meaningful, compliant, and relationship-centred.

• Design and implement in-person, virtual, and hybrid engagement programs to support federal, provincial, and territorial impact assessment and regulatory processes, including assessing potential effects on Indigenous interests.
• Lead engagement activities, including planning, coordination, and facilitation (virtual and in-person), engagement, documenting, reporting, and producing well-organized outputs that meet project objectives.
• Provide technical direction on culturally safe and respectful engagement approaches that foster collaboration, transparency, and meaningful participation.
• Develop clear, accessible engagement and facilitation materials that apply inputs from multi-disciplinary teams, including Indigenous Knowledge and Western science.
• Prepare high-quality reports, summaries, and recommendations that accurately reflect engagement activities, issues, and outcomes, and support regulatory submissions.
• Maintain and manage communication and issue tracking across clients, Indigenous Nations, regulators, and project teams, supporting traceability and follow-through.
• Apply current legislation, policies, and best practices related to engagement, consultation, and impact assessment, adapting approaches to project context.
• Build and maintain respectful, relationship-centred partnerships with Indigenous Nations and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience working in a consulting, advisory, or professional services context, where you supported or led client facing work, managed deliverables, and worked within defined scopes, schedules, and budgets.
• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, Indigenous studies, facilitation, policy, geography, environmental studies, economics, or a related discipline. We also recognize that equivalent professional experience may demonstrate the required foundations for this work.
• Demonstrated experience leading engagement processes for impact assessments and other regulatory applications, including building relationships and supporting their successful advancement with First Nations, Métis, and/or Inuit peoples.
• Experience writing and supporting the development of engagement and issues summaries as part of impact assessment processes.
• Knowledge of Canadian federal, territorial, and provincial legislation regarding consultation, engagement, impact assessment, social due diligence, and permitting, based on professional experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience producing clear, plain language deliverables to communicate technical concepts.
• Experience supporting engagement, consultation, and facilitation using in-person and virtual methods.
• Ability to work effectively across multiple projects and priorities, both independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.
• Training or experience in facilitation (e.g., IAP2, trauma-informed practice, conflict resolution, or similar) is an asset.
• Indigenous lived experience, contributing to team based, multi lens project delivery by helping inform how Indigenous perspectives are collectively understood, represented, and integrated into consulting work, is a strong asset.
