Role Description

This is a full-time role for a Senior Construction Manager located in Nanaimo, BC. The Senior Construction Manager will be responsible for active management of large construction projects, managing budgets, ensuring construction safety standards are met, overseeing project control, mentoring site staff/junior construction managers and optimizing project schedules for efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is an asset.
• At least 10 years of experience in construction project management, with a proven track record in managing commercial, municipal, and multi-residential projects. Experience on Vancouver Island is preferred.
• Extensive experience in negotiating, administering, and managing contracts. Proficiency in reviewing and analyzing contract documents, tenders, drawings, and specifications.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively lead project teams, build trust, and resolve conflicts. Experience in mentoring and supporting team development.
• Understanding of the construction landscape on Vancouver Island, including local regulations and practices is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills with a proactive/collaborative approach to identifying and resolving challenges that arise during the project lifecycle.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in construction. Ability to work with site superintendents to implement and enforce safety protocols on-site.
