SENIOR CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR – ICI PROJECTS – GTA

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for ICI building projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor projects.
• Complete quantity take-offs, coordinate sub-trade selection, and pricing of various scope items using first principles on a divisional basis.
• Update and maintain contacts database and construction cost database.
• Respond to client inquiries regarding project pricing.
• Request, evaluate, and recommend subtrade quotations, ensuring accuracy and conformance to project plans and specifications.
• Identify long lead material orders to ensure timely procurement.
• Review and finalize bids before submission, ensuring competitiveness and accuracy.
• Communicate professionally with Owners and Architects to develop relationships and secure repeat business.
• Plan construction projects and prepare schedules in conjunction with the Project Manager as required.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including project managers and executives, to deliver accurate estimates aligned with project objectives.
• Process contract drawings and specifications to ensure scope is built according to the latest documents.
• Identify scope changes between issued-for-construction drawings and tender packages.
• Process contemplated changes from the Architect, solicit subcontractor pricing, and ensure scope completeness and reasonable pricing prior to submission.
• Prepare and submit progress billings/invoices timely, reflecting work completed on site.
• Monitor labor and material costs to prevent budget overruns and escalate discrepancies.
• Forecast project costs to ensure positive cash flow.
• Coordinate and communicate with subcontractors to address problems such as delivery, labor, schedule, and payments.
• Maintain knowledge of trade unions, market trends, material pricing, labor rates, and industry regulations to inform estimates.
• Ensure all documentation is accurately prepared, shared, logged, and completed within required timeframes.
• Handle project close-out documentation, including as-built drawings, manuals, warranties, and permits.
• Perform other duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, TECHNICAL SKILLS

• 7-10 years of estimating experience in ICI Construction in Canada.
• Experience estimating small to very large projects ($100k - $50M).
• Proven experience across diverse projects: Commercial, Institutional, Multi-Residential, Retail, and Industrial facilities in the GTA.
• Experience with both new construction and renovation projects.
• Experience bidding on mid-rise, high-rise, multi-res, and warehouse projects is a strong asset.
• Ability to successfully bid projects up to $50M.
• Understanding of CCDC and CCA contract formats and estimate classifications.
• Knowledge of MS Office, Project, Bluebeam Revu, Sage Estimating, Bid Matrix, Procore, and takeoff software.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail, ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and macros.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with CMiC is an asset.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

• Degree in Engineering, Construction, Architecture, or equivalent experience.
• Gold Seal Certification in Estimating is an asset.
• Valid G Driver’s license.
