Job description

About the Role

As a Senior Construction Estimator at Azimuth Builders, you’ll be a key driver of our pre-construction process—bringing together cost certainty, scope clarity, and strategic planning from day one. You’ll lead estimating efforts on commercial, industrial, and mixed-use developments, working closely with clients, consultants, and internal teams to shape successful projects before shovels hit the ground.

This is a senior-level role that blends technical expertise with preconstruction strategy, relationship management, and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities Pre-construction & Estimating Leadership

  • Lead full-cycle pre-construction efforts including budgeting, cost planning, constructibility reviews, and logistics input
  • Prepare and present conceptual and Class C budgets based on preliminary information
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and consultants to influence design decisions aligned with budget goals
  • Facilitate design development cost tracking and provide real-time estimating as designs evolve
  • Provide input into project schedules, phasing, procurement strategies, and risk registers
  • Support the handoff from pre-construction to operations with clearly defined scope, budgets, and documentation

Estimating Duties

  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs and pricing using industry tools and benchmark data
  • Issue and manage RFQs; analyze trade and supplier quotes for accuracy and scope alignment
  • Prepare detailed bid packages, value engineering options, and scope clarifications
  • Lead bid closings and ensure all estimating deliverables are complete and accurate
  • Support internal cost benchmarking, unit price libraries, and estimating process improvements

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Operations teams to align cost, schedule, and constructibility considerations
  • Mentor junior estimators, supporting skill development and quality standards within the estimating team
  • Engage with the broader business to improve systems, forecasting, and cost controls

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of construction estimating experience with at least 3 in a preconstruction or leadership role
  • Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field
  • Proficient in estimating software (e.g., STACK, PlanSwift, Bluebeam), MS Excel, and cost databases
  • Experience with Procore or equivalent project management platforms is preferred
  • Strong understanding of construction assemblies, building systems, and sequencing
  • Confident in interpreting drawings, specs, and contract language
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills

Why Join Azimuth Builders?

  • Competitive compensation package and performance-based bonuses
  • Comprehensive health and wellness benefits
  • Career growth through challenging projects and leadership development
  • Forward-thinking culture grounded in innovation, collaboration, and execution
  • A voice in shaping how the next generation of construction gets built
