Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Engineer to join a fully remote team. This role focuses on developing, validating, and applying advanced CFD models to solve complex fluid mechanics problems across automotive, aerospace, and energy sectors.

You will lead the setup and execution of CFD simulations, validate models with experimental data, and provide actionable insights for design optimization.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field with strong fluid dynamics focus.
• Minimum of 8 years hands-on CFD experience solving engineering problems.
• Proficiency in commercial CFD software such as ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM.

Responsibilities

• Develop, set up, and execute complex CFD simulations for various flow regimes and conditions.
• Perform pre-processing (geometry cleanup, meshing) and post-processing (data analysis, visualization).
• Validate CFD models against experimental data and theory.
• Analyze results to provide insights into fluid flow behavior, heat transfer, and aerodynamic performance.
• Collaborate with engineers to interpret results and recommend design optimizations.
• Develop and implement advanced meshing strategies and turbulence models.
• Automate CFD workflows and post-processing tasks using scripting (e.g., Python).
• Stay current with CFD methodologies, software, and hardware and mentor junior engineers remotely.
