Job summary

Coulson Aviation in Port Alberni, BC is seeking a Senior Composite Technician to inspect, repair, fabricate, and maintain composite aircraft components for our specialized fleet. This full-time, on-site role requires hands-on leadership on complex projects.

You will interpret blueprints, guide less-experienced technicians, and uphold safety and aviation regulations while delivering high-quality repairs. We offer competitive compensation, health and dental benefits, and a 5% employer-matching

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a senior or advanced composite fabrication, repair, or maintenance role.
• Hands-on experience with layup, bonding, vacuum bagging, curing, finishing, and repair techniques.
• Strong knowledge of composite materials, adhesives, resins, core materials, and storage/handling requirements.
• Ability to diagnose composite damage and perform high-quality repairs.
• Attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
• Ability to maintain complete and accurate technical records.

At Coulson Aviation, we operate, modify, and maintain a diverse fleet of specialized aircraft supporting aerial firefighting operations worldwide. Our fleet includes Boeing 737 FIRELINERS, C-130 Hercules, CH-47D Chinooks, UH-60 Black Hawks, Cessna Citation aircraft, and Sikorsky S-61 and S-76 helicopters. We operate across Canada, the United States, Australia, and Chile.

As our company and aircraft fleet continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Senior Composite Technician to join our team in Port Alberni, BC. This full-time, onsite position is responsible for inspecting, repairing, fabricating, and maintaining composite components used in aircraft and specialty projects, including vehicles.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Inspect, assess, repair, fabricate, and maintain composite aircraft components and specialty products.
• Perform advanced composite repairs using approved materials, methods, technical data, and industry-standard techniques.
• Interpret blueprints, structural repair manuals, technical instructions, and manufacturer specifications.
• Provide technical guidance and hands-on support to less-experienced technicians.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and work completed.
• Ensure materials are properly stored and handled.
• Follow environmental requirements, safety standards, company procedures, and applicable aviation regulations.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

• At least 5 years of experience in a senior or advanced composite fabrication, repair, or maintenance role.
• Extensive hands-on experience with composite layup, bonding, vacuum bagging, curing, finishing, and repair techniques.
• Strong knowledge of composite materials, adhesives, resins, core materials, and appropriate storage and handling requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose composite damage and complete accurate, high-quality repairs.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
• The ability to maintain complete and accurate technical records.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
