A leading governance advisory firm in Toronto seeks an experienced advisor to manage client-facing relationships focused on executive compensation and corporate governance. The successful candidate will have 5-7 years of experience and a degree in Finance or related fields. This role offers the opportunity to work with top-tier clients while fostering relationships and providing expert advisory services in the financial market.

The Role
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities Will Include
This is a client-facing role that provides consultative and advisory services centered on executive compensation and corporate governance to senior executives at the world’s largest companies. In this role, you will combine your subject matter expertise and communication skills with our market-leading proprietary data and tools to help companies understand how to evaluate and mitigate shareholders’ perceptions of governance and executive compensation risk. Our advisors work with over 60% of the S&P500 and a third of the Russell 3000 in the US, and most companies in the S&P / TSX Index in Canada. The role is primarily focused on maintaining and expanding our reach in the Canadian market, with some exposure to US-based clients.
Forming and sustaining ongoing relationships with senior client executives to understand their needs and provide them with advisory services and expertise in executive compensation and corporate governance trends and best practices tailored to their challenges and goals.
Analyzing client data and proposals to identify sources of concern to shareholders in executive compensation and corporate governance proposals.
Synthesizing information from our governance and compensation databases and platform to uncover actionable intelligence on company disclosures and practices.
Producing and delivering polished client deliverables and discussing them in detail with C-Suite executives, including legal, finance, and HR.
Supporting sales team members to identify prospective client needs and demonstrate the ISS-Corporate value proposition.
Supporting the Compensation and Governance businesses by contributing to the development of industry-leading intellectual capital and thought leadership on governance and compensation topics, including whitepapers, blogs, podcasts, toolkits, webinars, and presentations for individual clients and at industry conferences.
The role requires 5% travel or less, typically for conference attendance and occasional client visits.
Qualifications & Education
5-7 years of successful work experience in a related role with a strong understanding of the executive compensation and corporate governance landscape
BA degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field with an exceptional performance record; MBA or other related graduate degree preferred
Strong writing and public speaking skills
Technical comfort (including the ability to quickly learn and train on SaaS applications)
Effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
Excellent organization, multitasking, and prioritization skills

Ability to diagnose client needs and identify relevant resources
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Intellectual curiosity and ability to master complex concepts and technical subject matter quickly
Proficiency in distilling data using Excel (SQL, or other tools is helpful)
Proactive in turning to others for assistance when required
Ability to present professionally and authoritatively in both client-facing and public environments
Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to produce professional and polished work product
Ability to foster and maintain collaborative relationships in a cross-functional environment
Capacity to quickly establish relationships with executives and be seen as a trusted resource
