Job Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Director of Integrated Communications, the Senior Communications Officer, Marketing and Engagement will:

  • Work directly with the Academic Director and Managing Director of the Scott McCain and Leslie McLean Centre for Sport, Business and Health to support the Centre's strategic plan. Collaborate with Centre personnel, students, community partners, scholars, and industry and government partners.
  • Develop and execute strategic communications to enhance the recognition of the Centre and University within the sport, business, and health sectors.
  • Serve as the primary storyteller for the Centre, creating stories and content (including photography and video) for various channels.
  • Manage the Centre's digital presence, including web pages and social media, in collaboration with External Affairs.
  • Create communication materials to promote the Centre, including newsletters, brochures, presentations, and media.
  • Develop and implement marketing and communications plans to increase undergraduate enrollment and recognition.
  • Design and execute promotional campaigns across channels like social media, email, and events.
  • Generate multimedia content to engage audiences and promote enrollment.
  • Conduct market research to understand target audiences and identify opportunities.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders and partners to support strategic goals.
  • Coordinate community outreach and engagement activities.
  • Represent the Centre in networking activities and events.
  • Collaborate with university partners on joint projects, ensuring brand consistency and effective communication.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of related experience.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to create engaging content for diverse audiences.
  • Experience in building stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong research and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing trends and audience engagement.
  • Website management experience.
  • Social media and analytics proficiency.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong organizational skills and multitasking ability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in visual content production is a plus.
