The Opportunity:
The Corporate Communications unit is seeking an experienced communications expert to join the Toronto Police Service as a Senior Communications Advisor (Advisor).
The Advisor will contribute to the communication success of one of the largest policing organizations in North America. The environment is fast-paced and energetic: no two days at the TPS are the same.
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Communications, the candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience implementing communications strategies. The Advisor will bring to life a new, proactive communications agenda to optimize opportunities across the Service that resonate with the communities we serve.
The Advisor will develop the plans and communications products to support initiatives, programs, launches and campaigns and strive to achieve alignment and a cohesive corporate message for the Service s public-facing communications initiatives.
The ideal candidate has broad communications experience and is production and deadline driven. Experience providing communications support to executives is an asset as you will work with the Manager and Director in ensuring support to the Office of the Chief as required.
The Advisor will collaborate with internal partners in Units and Divisions by providing strategic communications counsel. You will work closely with partners across the Service to understand their priorities and help to develop communications plans that complement the Service s broader communications agenda.
You will be an excellent writer and experienced in developing strategic plans and communication calendars, roll-outs and products including news releases, speaking notes, key messages, fact sheets, social media and logistics scenarios.
You will be responsible for developing and overseeing the successful roll-out and implementation of all tactics identified within a plan. Collaboration will be important as you work with your Corporate Communications colleagues to develop your plans, whether it require media or issues management advice, video production, graphics, social media or other input.
To be successful in this role, the Advisor must build and draw on relationships and resources within the Service and acquire a deep understanding of the importance of our communities and stakeholders.

What you will do:
The Advisor will be responsible for the production and planning for external corporate communications efforts from planning to execution. This includes working closely with the Manager to develop integrated communications plans and oversee the rollout of these plans.
