Qualifications
- University graduation in a communications, public relations or related field, supplemented by a minimum of four (4) years progressively responsible experience in a designated public relations, public affairs or public information position with at least two (2) years' communications experience in a similar organization, and one (1) year of experience in a related supervisory capacity.
- Diploma in a communications, public relations or related field, supplemented by a minimum of six (6) years progressively responsible experience in a designated public relations, public affairs or public information position with at least two (2) years' communications experience in a similar organization and one (1) year of experience in a related supervisory capacity.
Assets
- Accreditation in the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) or Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS).
- Previous or current Incident Command System certification is an asset.
- Knowledge of City Plan.
Skills Required for Success
- Extensive knowledge of mass communication media, internal and external communications planning, and public relations principles and practices.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience combined with collaborative and team-building skills.
- Experience in creating, developing, implementing, and evaluating communication and marketing plans.
- Strong traditional media relations skills and experience.
- Digital and social media proficiency.
- Excellent issues identification and management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and deadlines.
- Proficiency with contemporary computer technologies (e.g., Google platform, Adobe suite).

Hours of Work: 33.75 or 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with on-call work outside regular hours as needed. Hours may be subject to change under the collective agreement.
Salary
- 33.75 hours: $49.525 - $62.240/hr; $87,250.67 - $109,651.32/year.
- 40 hours: $46.801 - $58.817/hr; $97,720.49 - $122,809.90/year.
