Senior Commercial Underwriter, Pacific Region

Ecclesiastical Insurance Canada, part of Benefact Group, is seeking a Senior Commercial Underwriter to join our Pacific Region in Vancouver.

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Duration: Permanent

Location: Vancouver

About The Role

We are looking for an individual ready to manage complex risks associated with property and casualty products. The role involves working with various stakeholders, handling underwriting submissions, managing a portfolio, and building strong relationships with customers and brokers. Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze risks, assess submissions, and make sound underwriting decisions.
  • Develop, negotiate, and manage a portfolio aligned with Ecclesiastical's strategic goals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, brokers, and internal teams, ensuring excellent service.
  • Plan, prioritize, and manage tasks to meet objectives and SLAs.
  • Operate within company frameworks and escalate risks promptly.
Knowledge, Skills, And Experience
  • University degree and advanced insurance certifications like CIP or equivalent.
  • 6-8 years of progressive underwriting experience, especially in property and casualty.
  • Proficiency with underwriting tools, systems, and data analysis.
  • Attention to detail, strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.
  • Negotiation skills and adaptability to market changes.
  • Understanding of underwriting guidelines, policy wording, and regional insurance market.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring underwriters and associates.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • High ethical standards and discretion handling sensitive information.
