As the Senior Manager of Commercial Operations, you'll be at the forefront of driving strategic deal support and commercial execution for major software opportunities across the Americas, with a special emphasis on high-value RFQs from North American utility customers. You'll be a pivotal force in accelerating revenue growth by collaborating with Sales, Legal, Finance, and Product teams to craft enterprise-grade deals that are not only commercially viable but also compliant and perfectly tailored to customer needs. This dynamic role demands exceptional business acumen, top-tier communication skills, and a meticulous approach to processes, all crucial for thriving in a fast-paced, high-impact commercial landscape.
Job Description
Your Responsibilities:
Enterprise Deal Structuring: Lead the development of commercial frameworks for complex, high-value deals—balancing revenue, risk, and compliance while aligning with customer requirements. Particular emphasis on navigating formal procurement processes and utility RFQs in NAM.
Strategic Proposal Management: Own the creation and governance of tailored commercial proposals, ensuring clarity, competitiveness, and alignment with internal standards. Support the development of strategic responses to detailed customer RFPs and bid solicitations.
Cross-Functional Leadership: Serve as a key commercial advisor to Sales and a point of coordination across Legal, Finance, and Product for deal-specific strategy and approvals.
Executive Communication: Clearly articulate deal strategy, risks, and trade-offs to senior stakeholders, including regional leadership and functional heads.
Governance & Compliance: Maintain rigour around commercial policies, pricing guidelines, and approval workflows. Ensure adherence to internal controls, regulatory requirements, and audit standards.
Quote-to-Order Optimization: Partner with Commercial Excellence and Sales Operations teams to identify and implement improvements to commercial systems and processes.
Performance Metrics & Reporting: Define and monitor KPIs related to deal velocity, pricing discipline, sales efficiency, and margin impact.
Process Excellence: Champion commercial execution best practices and uphold process rigor in a dynamic, high-growth environment.
What You Bring
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Commercial Operations, Deal Desk, Strategic Pricing, or Proposal Management—preferably in enterprise software or SaaS.
- Strong experience leading or supporting large, complex enterprise deals involving multi-year terms, non-standard clauses, and high customer visibility—particularly those involving public utility RFQs and multi-stakeholder evaluations.
- Deep knowledge of commercial deal structures, pricing strategies, and software contracting principles.
- Excellent communication and executive presence; confident engaging with senior leaders and guiding cross-functional teams through complex decisions.
- Strong command of CRMs and analytics platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Responsive, Aha!, Power BI etc.) and experience driving systems improvements.
- Detail-oriented with a disciplined, process-driven mindset and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to lead initiatives independently and work effectively across functions in a matrixed organization.

- Background in regulated electricity markets or other highly governed sectors, with working knowledge of how Independent System Operators (ISOs) operate.
- Experience driving high-quality RFQ responses that reflect commercial innovation, compliance, and customer alignment.
- Track record of driving measurable improvements in deal quality, speed, and margin.
