Job description

The Opportunity:

WSP is currently seeking a Senior Commercial Manager to join our Transportation Systems team located in the Province of Ontario. Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, Major Projects, this position will be responsible for managing the contractual agreements for rail and transit projects, including negotiating, supporting, and managing the contracts. This position involves extensive contact with clients, sub-consultants, and project team(s); therefore organizational & communication skills are paramount for success.

This position will be responsible for supporting the commercial activities corporately as well as associated with a project or a portfolio of projects as may be required. The Senior Commercial Manager is responsible for providing leadership, expertise and oversight to ensure corporate and project commercial objectives are met at policy levels.

As a member of the Transportation & Infrastructure team, you will be given opportunities to use your transferrable skills to define processes, create execution plans, mentor junior team member(s), and be the commercial lead for corporate initiatives and/or one major or multiple projects as may be the case. You will be supported by management to develop work plans and professional skills to become a strong leader in the consulting environment.

What you can expect to do here:

  • You will draft, review, and manage a variety of contracts and agreements, ensuring alignment with business and legal standards
  • You will lead or support bid strategy and negotiations, including risk reviews, partner selection, and commercial input on proposals
  • You will advise project teams on contract interpretation, scope compliance, and commercial strategy during execution
  • You will monitor financial health of projects in collaboration with Finance and Project Controls, including billing, performance tracking, and variance mitigation
  • You will manage change processes and dispute resolution, preparing impact assessments, documentation, and executive briefings
  • You will coordinate project close-out activities, including vendor evaluations, lessons learned, and final client release
