Job Overview

Working under general supervision, an Senior Underwriter – Commercial Lines is responsible for analyzing the acceptability of low complexity business with low to moderate premium volume according to company guidelines by working collaboratively with our sales force and providing value added expertise and service to both potential and existing policyholders.

Job Responsibilities
  • Fleet Management and Analysis: Perform risk analysis using technology and external data sources for quoting, negotiating, and authorizing acceptance of risk.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Actively contribute to team training by sharing expertise and promoting collective excellence.
  • Portfolio Development in Quebec: Contribute to strategic portfolio development in the Quebec region, working closely with broker partners.
  • Rapidly Growing Department: Play a key role in achieving business objectives while gaining personal and professional development opportunities.
  • Fleet Development Participation: Involve yourself in the evolution and management of Wawanesa’s Commercial Insurance fleet.
  • Networking and Collaboration: Maintain excellent relationships with broker partners and participate in industry events.
  • Pricing and Renewal Management: Assess policy renewal eligibility per company guidelines and aim to strengthen customer retention.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Serve as the primary point of contact for policyholders, providing expert, responsive, and professional service.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of Commercial Auto Property and Casualty industry experience.
  • Bilingualism in French and English written and spoken.
  • Post‑secondary education or related business experience.
  • Completed or actively pursuing a Property and Casualty Industry Designation (e.g., CIP).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and underwriting software.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to review information carefully and comprehensively.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to provide justification.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to present information convincingly.
  • Ability to multi‑task and prioritize daily work while meeting deadlines and maintaining high performance.

Salary: $80,000 - $95,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.
