Job summary

Orion Innovation in Montreal is seeking a Senior Systems Architect (Cloud & Event-Driven Systems) to lead the architectural evolution of our core platforms. You will define structural blueprints, champion hexagonal and event-driven patterns, and mentor engineers to build scalable, cloud-native solutions.

You will provide technical leadership, evaluate new technologies, drive PoCs, create architecture docs and roadmaps, and ensure designs meet security, performance, and reliability requirements

Qualifications

• 10+ years in system architecture or senior technical design roles.
• Hands-on production experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Proven track record implementing hexagonal, serverless, and microservices.
• Strong expertise in event-driven architectures and high-throughput distributed systems.
• Experience with IaC and automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent communication bridging tech and non-tech stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect scalable, resilient systems using hexagonal and event-driven patterns.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and engineering excellence.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, lead PoC initiatives, and propose architectural solutions.
• Create architectural documentation, diagrams, and long-term roadmaps.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and business to translate requirements into technical specs.
• Ensure designs meet non-functional requirements for scalability, performance, reliability and security.
