Job summary

S27a is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer in Toronto for designing and delivering scalable AWS cloud infrastructure and Django-based back-end systems. You will migrate projects end-to-end, collaborate with clients to refine requirements, and drive DevOps practices with IaC and CI/CD.

The role blends senior technical leadership with hands-on implementation, including multi-account architectures, security, and cost optimization. A remote-first culture supports flexible work within Canada.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of cloud engineering experience focusing on AWS services.
• Proficiency building Django apps at scale integrated with cloud-native services.
• Hands-on with infrastructure automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, or AWS CloudFormation/CDK.
• Experience leading large-scale migrations to the cloud.
• Strong networking, security, and DevOps practices in cloud environments.
• Experience interfacing with clients or stakeholders for requirements.
• Knowledge of container orchestration, serverless patterns, and event-driven design.
• Understanding of cloud security: IAM, encryption, SOC2/ISO 27001.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement AWS cloud infrastructure for web apps and data platforms.
• Lead end-to-end cloud migration projects with security and minimal downtime.
• Develop and maintain Django back-end systems integrated with cloud-native services.
• Collaborate with clients to translate requirements into engineering plans.
• Implement CI/CD and IaC using Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Optimize cloud cost and performance through monitoring, automation, and SLO-based metrics.
• Design multi-account AWS architectures with governance using AWS Organizations.
• Mentor engineers and conduct architecture reviews to guide infra direction.
