The Cloud Architect is responsible for driving the cloud-centric architecture approach for our managed services offering, while maintaining security best practices and improving operational efficiencies. The Cloud Architect works collaboratively with various stakeholders including Solution and Software Architects, Security, Product Management, and Operations peers, on the technical aspects of aligning, designing, implementing, testing, deploying, securing, and automating infrastructure services to deliver SaaS-based solutions on Azure/AWS. The Cloud Architect will participate in building and documenting standardized infrastructure patterns and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage a multi-tenant Cloud strategy for our Managed Services offering.
- Develop cloud reference architectures for various deployment topologies.
- Document architectural guiding principles and standardize specifications for the managed services offering.
- Assess, design, implement, automate, and document security solutions and processes to meet compliance requirements.
- Partner with Security Operations teams to define and implement best practices around Cloud security.
- Work with stakeholders to develop cloud, container, and application security standards.
- Develop cost/utilization tracking and attribution processes for all Cloud Service Providers.
- Maintain documentation for cloud security systems and procedures.
- Drive proof of concepts and evaluate innovative technologies.
- Generate detailed documentation including design, diagrams, bills of materials, FAQs, and transition plans.
- Deliver projects from initiation to successful implementation as a subject matter expert.
- Lead C-Level/Executive briefings on roadmap, technology fit, and business objectives.
- Promote Cloud technology vision and best practices within the company.
- Provide multi-cloud thought leadership.
- Collaborate with Operations to remove technical roadblocks and improve efficiency.
- Ensure accurate reporting of billable hours in Netsuite and proper utilization of project management tools.
- Comply with privacy, security, and confidentiality policies.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Solutions Architect with cloud security expertise (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS).
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems engineering, or related IT field.
- At least 5 years' experience identifying security issues, risks, and developing mitigation plans, with a good understanding of cloud security threats.
- Deep experience with hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and interconnect/colo providers.
- Solid experience with application architectures and cloud migration/refactoring.
- Ability to communicate complex architectures to both C-suite and technical teams.
- Certification in one of the major cloud platforms (preferably Azure Security Certification).
- Extensive experience securing operating systems, networks, databases, and application architectures.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards (HIPAA, ISO, HITRUST) and their impact on design.
- Experience with security tools like antivirus, IDS/IPS, WAFs, NSG, ExpressRoute, Application Firewalls.
- Proficiency in networking and security concepts.
- Expertise in cloud services such as databases, containers, compute, storage, and serverless architectures.
- Experience managing database performance (MySQL, MSSQL, Postgres, DynamoDB, MongoDB, Elasticsearch).
- Familiarity with identity protocols (PIM, OAuth, OpenID).
- Experience with threat modeling and data center architecture components.
- Customer-first mindset, highly responsive, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
- Strong team collaboration and leadership skills, with excellent communication abilities.
