Job description

My client is seeking an experienced Senior Claims Leader to lead a team of skilled examiners and large loss file handlers. This is a high-impact leadership role, ideal for someone who’s passionate about people leadership, property claims, and driving continuous improvement — while balancing exceptional customer service, risk controls, and the efficient management of high-value claims.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of property file handlers, including large loss claims specialists, ensuring delivery of outstanding customer, people, and financial outcomes.
  • Foster an environment where people can do their best work and grow their careers, building team capability for both current and future business needs.
  • Identify and remove inefficiencies or “waste work” that impact customer service, employee experience, and financial performance.
  • Develop, enhance, and monitor claims standards, best practices, compliance measures, training programs, and project management initiatives.
  • Provide oversight and authority to ensure accurate indemnity spend on the most complex and high-value property claims, with a focus on commercial losses.
  • Partner with other business units — such as recovery, underwriting, and complaints — to align strategies and improve overall performance.
  • Leverage data insights and team expertise to identify opportunities for performance improvement, enhanced customer experience, and optimized financial results.
  • Lead change initiatives, inspire engagement, and foster a culture of ownership, agility, transparency, inclusion, curiosity, and respect.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education and a CIP / FCIP designation (or working towards).
  • In-depth knowledge of large loss property claims, including both commercial and residential, with experience as a large loss adjuster or examiner.
  • Proven leadership experience in the insurance industry, with strong performance management and talent development skills.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies or training in process optimization.
  • Excellent communication, advocacy, and influence skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, using data to drive decisions and improve team performance.
  • Creativity, curiosity, and the ability to think critically under pressure.

Why Join This Team

  • Lead a high-performing team in a strategic, decision-making role.
  • Work in a flexible hybrid environment with a focus on collaboration and innovation.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package, plus professional development support.
  • Be part of a workplace culture that values diversity, inclusion, and continuous growth.

If you’re ready to lead a dynamic team and make a measurable impact in property claims leadership, we’d love to hear from you.
