Job summary

Life After Law Inc. is seeking a litigation lawyer to join as Claims Counsel in Ontario. You will investigate, evaluate, defend, and resolve errors and omissions claims, with possible subrogation work depending on experience. Strong preference for wills & estates or real estate exposure.

You will manage claim files, guide external counsel, draft strategy from discovery to appeal, and interact with insureds and claimants. Ontario practice knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

• A JD/LLB and licensed to practice law in Canada.
• Minimum 5 years of litigation experience across multiple areas.
• Preference for wills & estates or real estate litigation experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of claim files across various areas.
• Manage subrogated claims on the insurer's behalf.
• Direct external counsel and professionals in resolving disputes.
• Instruct, formulate, and implement litigation strategy from discovery to appeal.
• Collaborate with Ontario counsel on high-profile matters.
• Review, negotiate, and draft agreements; respond to insureds and claimants.
