Senior Claims Advisor, Intact Public Entities

As a Senior Claims Advisor, you will handle a diverse range of claims, primarily focusing on casualty liability claims. Your technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and adherence to best practices in claim settlement will be crucial. You will collaborate effectively, build strong relationships, and ensure an exceptional customer experience.

Our office is located in Cambridge, Ontario, and we operate in a hybrid work model.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Review and analyze coverage, including preparing Reservation of Rights letters and other communications.
  2. Develop resolution strategies by evaluating loss nature, liability, damage, and coverage limits.
  3. Guide legal counsel and independent adjusters on complex claim investigations and settlements.
  4. Analyze expert reports and litigation documents related to claims.
  5. Identify and report serious injury/damage losses and risk management issues promptly.
  6. Maintain detailed claim files, prepare reports, and summarize files for management.
  7. Update reserves, request payments, and respond to external correspondence.
  8. Provide excellent customer service, maintaining relationships with insureds, brokers, and underwriters.
  9. Participate in mediations, pre-trials, and litigation milestones with counsel.
  10. Follow internal Claims Best Practices.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in casualty liability claims handling and insurance litigation.
  • Actively pursuing or completed CIP, CRM, or licensed legal professional credentials.
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of insurance coverage issues.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and prioritization skills.
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented, adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
  • Municipal claims experience is an asset.
