Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Laval seeks an experienced Civil or Structural Engineer to lead the design of hydraulic structures and participate in major projects across Québec. Candidates should have over 12 years of experience in structural design, preferably in the hydroelectric sector. Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in structural design, primarily concrete and steel.
  • Experience in hydroelectric and dam sector is an asset.
  • Member of Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible for registration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design of new hydraulic structures and hydroelectric developments.
  • Oversee rehabilitation of hydraulic structures.
  • Supervise design calculations for structures.
  • Lead feasibility studies, preliminary designs, and technical assessments.
  • Lead or participate in multidisciplinary technical coordination and project management.

Job Description

Our civil/structural engineering team, specializing in hydroelectric development and dam engineering, seeks an experienced Civil or Structural Engineer to work on major projects across Québec. You will participate in multidisciplinary projects with key industry stakeholders and enjoy a flexible hybrid work model.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead the design of new hydraulic structures (dams, spillways, water intakes, etc.) and hydroelectric developments.
  • Oversee engineering for the rehabilitation of hydraulic structures and hydroelectric facilities.
  • Supervise and perform design calculations for reinforced concrete and structural steel.
  • Lead feasibility studies, preliminary designs, and various technical assessments.
  • Lead stability assessments of dams and other hydraulic structures.
  • Participate in dam safety evaluation studies.
  • Lead and/or conduct inspections of hydraulic and hydroelectric structures.
  • Lead the engineering for the preparation of technical plans and specifications.
  • Participate in analyzing construction methods.
  • Contribute to project cost estimation.
  • Provide technical support throughout construction from the office and/or on site.
  • Support and lead teams of engineers and technicians.
  • Lead or participate in multidisciplinary technical coordination and project management.
Qualifications
  • University degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Experience in civil/structural engineering.
  • Experience in the hydroelectric and dam sector (an asset).
  • More than twelve (12) years of experience in structural design (primarily concrete and steel structures).
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible for registration.
  • Proficiency in French, spoken and written.
  • Proficiency in English, spoken and written, for national‑scale project communication (an asset).
  • Strong autonomy, initiative, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
