Job summary
Bluestar Engineering Ltd., a Calgary-based EPCM firm, is seeking a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer for commercial and industrial projects. You will lead structural design, perform analyses, and prepare deliverables, with emphasis on steel framing, reinforced concrete foundations, and coordination across disciplines.
Required are a P.Eng. in Alberta (or eligibility), 8–10 years of experience in commercial building structural design, and proficiency with STAAD.Pro; familiarity with NBCC/CSA codes
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta or eligible for registration with APEGA.
- 8–10 years of experience in commercial building structural design.
- Strong experience with structural steel design and reinforced concrete foundations.
- Proficiency with STAAD.Pro or similar software.
- Knowledge of NBCC, CSA S16, CSA A23.3 and related loading requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and design for commercial and industrial buildings.
- Design steel framing systems, including beams, columns, bracing, and connections.
- Design reinforced concrete foundations and equipment foundations.
- Perform FEA and structural modelling as required.
- Develop calculations, criteria, reports, and specifications.
- Coordinate with clients, architects, and other disciplines.
- Review drawings, RFIs, and contractor submissions.
- Ensure designs comply with Canadian building codes and project requirements.
- Provide technical support during construction and field issues.
