Job description

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Civil Estimator to join our client in Abbottsford, BC .

Our client, a civil construction contractor serving the lower mainland since for nearly 50 years, has evolved from a family startup into a multi-disciplined firm known for tackling complex projects with innovative techniques. Committed to the success of every unique project, they conduct thorough reviews of client requirements to explore all possible improvements. Their competitive edge and value-added engineering solutions make them a standout choice for civil construction needs.

Responsibilities :

  • Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for civil engineering projects, analyzing plans, specifications, and documentation.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and evaluate labor, material, and equipment costs to determine overall project costs.
  • Solicit and review bids from subcontractors and suppliers, and compile bid packages for submission.
  • Identify potential risks and opportunities, providing recommendations for mitigating risks.
  • Maintain organized records of all estimates and bid documents, collaborating closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and market conditions, effectively communicating with clients to understand project requirements and address questions.

Requirements :

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in civil estimating or a related construction role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, PlanSwift) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and critical problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects, working effectively both independently and as part of a team.
