Job description

Your Opportunity

Senior Civil Engineer role to work on complex and exciting projects both independently and as a team member. May serve as technical engineer, project technical lead, project manager or a combination. As a senior engineer, people leadership skills are important to work on multi‑discipline teams and mentor younger staff both technically and professionally.

Stantec Water group provides services to private and public sector clients. Focus primarily on work in the region listed above, with opportunities to collaborate with other teams across North America.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee small and large projects of high complexity, perform technical design tasks, and provide technical guidance and mentorship.
  • Provide technical leadership for civil related projects and may serve as Engineer‑of‑Record.
  • Perform Project Management and/or Project Technical Lead duties on projects with managing project teams and financial performance of budgets.
  • Perform client account management and development duties to grow the business: develop project scope, budgets, design approach, support marketing, participate in client interviews and help negotiate contracts in British Columbia.
  • Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members, consultants, owner and contractor, sub‑contractors, and vendors.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects and peers’ projects.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Efficient project management and project technical lead duties on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Understand client expectations, budgeting, proposal writing, and producing high‑quality deliverables.
  • Technical expert in many relevant areas of design and understanding of various design and construction methods, codes and standards.
  • Strong knowledge of civil systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards. Thorough understanding of Metro Vancouver design standards is preferred.
  • Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of the project, checking accuracy, quality and completeness.
  • Strong communication, presentation and interview skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
  • General understanding of software such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, PCSWMM, StormCAD, WaterCAD, REVIT; others is a plus but not required.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in British Columbia (or able to obtain EGBC registration).
  • Minimum 15 years of experience.

Typical office environment working with computers and at a desk for long periods. Field work may include exposure to inclement weather. In office a minimum of 2 days per week.

Pay Range
  • Locations Outside of Lower Mainland – BC: Min $101,500 – Max $152,300.
  • Locations in Lower Mainland – BC: Min $107,600 – Max $161,400.
Pay Transparency

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided. Final compensation is based on education, qualifications, experience and work location. Certain roles are bonus eligible.
