Overview

Design is powerful. The work we do as engineers, architects, planners and construction professionals reshapes environments, reinvents spaces, and strengthens communities for a better, more sustainable world. None of this happens if we stand still, are complacent, or resign ourselves to accepting the status quo. At Gannett Fleming, we are looking for talented professionals that will join us as we deliver innovation, leadership, and results to our clients. Since our inception, over 100 years ago, we’ve remained agile, and offer a client-centric focus, that most larger firms simply cannot provide. We want to do great things; we need your help. As our new Senior Civil Engineer, you’ll offer leadership and oversight on a number of large, ongoing track and transportation projects. We are currently engaged in exciting, transformative projects in the GTA with major clients including Metrolinx and the TTC. Your work will contribute directly to the success of these, and other projects. Your role will be equal parts project management, client relations, and technical expertise. As our Senior engineer, you’ll provide guidance and expertise to a small engineering team (2-3 people) that will be substantially responsible for the design process. When you’re not engaged in technical review and evaluation of designs, you’ll be a main point of contact for our clients. This will include managing expectations, building our business, and representing our company. You’ll also liaise with other contractors and keep them informed on progress and setbacks. Building strong business relationships based on trust and mutual benefit will be critical.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain regular contact with clients and attend meetings
  • Provide technical expertise to clients and team members
  • Participate in some areas of the design process
  • Prepare, monitor, and forecast budget / cost / project schedules
  • Prepare and monitor scope of work and methodologies
  • Monitor project progress and participate in milestone meetings
  • Project management, including scheduling, status reports, etc.
  • Manage contact with subtrades, and provide technical expertise, advice, and oversight
  • Coordinate with various stakeholders and provide updates as necessary
  • Draft / modify / update proposals, prepare and deliver presentations / proposals
