Hatch has an opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer to work on several ongoing projects from our Calgary office. This person will perform general civil engineering and design activities involving site preparation, grading, drainage, roads, paving, etc. for mining and heavy industrial projects. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Leading the civil project team through to completion of assigned projects in areas of bulk earthworks, site drainage, mine and plant roads and earth and mine tailings structures design.
2. QA/QC of design calculations and contract documents.
3. Assuming responsibilities of discipline practice on assigned project scope.
4. Working collaboratively with the project managers and multi-discipline design teams.
5. Quality control – Drawing and calculations checking and verification.

Qualifications:

1. Civil Engineering degree from a recognized engineering program
2. Licensed Engineer within the province of Alberta preferred
3. Minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience (i.e. mining, energy or infrastructure)
4. Site grading design
5. Drainage design, storm sewers design, and storm management
6. Roads design
7. Sanitary sewers design
8. Hydrology and hydraulics
9. Thorough understanding of the design process including the application of civil design software packages.
10. Previous design experience in bulk earthworks, site grading, storm drainage, access and haul roads, and earth structures for large size projects.
11. Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately.
12. Previous experience leading, mentoring, and motivating junior civil engineers
13. Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills; will be self-motivated, quick to deliver on projects
