Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Civil Designer / Field Technologist to support Community Development projects with an approximately equal mix of office civil design and hands-on field work.

The role involves independent completion of routine tasks and contribution to larger projects under supervision, combining senior design with field data collection, construction observation, survey support, and project verification.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of civil design experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Hands-on field experience including surveys and construction observation
• Proficient with RTK GNSS equipment; Trimble experience is a plus
• Ability to work independently and coordinate across teams

Responsibilities

• Prepare civil designs for grading, servicing, drainage, and municipal infrastructure
• Develop drawings and models using AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Perform design calculations and analyze grading, drainage, and sewer capacity
• Interpret survey data and applicable standards to support design decisions
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and guide junior staff
• Conduct field surveys, construction observation, and site verifications
• Maintain field equipment and ensure safety and data quality
• Process field notes and ensure proper documentation integration into Civil 3D
