Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior Civil Designer to join our growing Canadian Operations. To be successful, you must have a minimum of 8-10 years of civil design experience utilizing Civil3D in rail, stations, and transportation projects, including multi-modal corridors (LRT/BRT). The Senior Civil Designer will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across Ontario, Canada, North America, and GHD’s global network.

This role involves:

• Preparing civil drawings and details from conception to final design in Civil 3D, including site grading, utility modeling, corridor design, and transit stations.
• Driving design phases and implementing standards for high-complexity rail and transit projects.
• Reviewing models and drawings, collaborating with engineers to develop detailed plans and documentation.
• Working within procurement strategies like Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build to advance civil design packages.
• Mentoring junior staff and technicians.
• Following BIM standards and providing support and training on Civil 3D and BIM procedures.
• Ensuring compliance with GHD BIM standards at the project level.
• Contributing to BIM scope, schedule, and budget planning.
• Performing quantity take-offs and producing high-quality civil deliverables.
• Communicating effectively with project teams to meet deadlines.
• Participating in the development of GHD's civil and BIM standards.

Qualifications include:

• A Civil Engineering Technology diploma or equivalent; Civil Engineering background is a plus.
• 8-10 years of civil design, drafting, and modeling experience, especially with Civil 3D.
• Proven experience in site grading, drainage, and corridor modeling.
• Strong skills in Civil 3D, with knowledge of Bentley Microstation, OpenRoads, Navisworks, Dynamo, and Revit considered assets.
• Experience with rail corridor modeling and grading is advantageous.
• Ability to perform complex design tasks in multidisciplinary environments.
• Experience with QA/QC of models and drawings.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with BIM collaboration tools such as ProjectWise and BIM 360.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
