Job summary

PerkinElmer in Woodbridge, ON, is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to design, develop and integrate GC/LC hardware, firmware and software. You will work with a cross-functional team of engineers and suppliers to deliver chromatographic systems across the product lifecycle.

The role requires a Master’s in analytical sciences and 5+ years in analytical hardware or related fields, with strong communication and lab experience. On-site in Woodbridge; some travel may be needed.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Chemical Physics, or Experimental Physics.
• 5+ years of experience in analytical system hardware, firmware, software, or applications development.
• Experience developing prototype chromatography-based instruments with specs and tests.
• Troubleshooting scientific instrumentation, especially chromatography systems.
• Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams of scientists and engineers.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Able to work in a laboratory environment and handle hazardous chemicals.
• Some travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and integrate GC and LC hardware, firmware and software.
• Collaborate with electronics, mechanical, firmware and software engineers.
• Work with supplier engineers on chromatography components.
• Assemble and test prototype chromatography systems or components.
• Develop performance specs and test procedures for chromatography instruments.
• Support chromatography applications scientists and development.
• Prepare internal technical reports and documentation.
• Assist transfer to production of successful prototypes and provide training.
• Develop and maintain functional requirements for NPI projects.
